Hi Everyone.! I hope that you have all enjoyed a great festive season and are ready to get back into golf.
We are hoping to have an even bigger and better year for QAGA members in 2009 and Sunday the 4th of January was a Great start to it. Hopefully too, we can entice a few of you who have been missing for a while to come and join in again. We are sure you’ll enjoy the company of both your friends and fellow amputees, your golfing skills are irrelevant so why not give it a go.
Don’t forget, we encourage you to bring both family and friends along to our monthly golf events. Our game at Talley Valley will be a great way for you to begin, golf game with cart included and a BBQ to boot - all for just $30! And if that’s too much for you to pay, then please contact any Board member, to see how we can assist you in enjoying a day out with us. I hope to see you all soon Swing Sweet and Have a Great Life! Q.A.G.A. Social Golf Club:
DECEMBER 2008: The events held at Pacific Harbour G.C. on Saturday Dec 6th and North Lakes G.C. on the Sunday the 7th, proved to be a fitting end for 2008.
Pacific Harbour Winners – Ugly, Hutch, Karen and Ray
Players didn’t have to compete on both days, but some did and whilst we were hoping for a larger field for both days, it was good to see each day enjoyed by those attending. Both courses proved to be a challenge even for the best of players. However some good scores were recorded at both courses and a great time was had by all.
Everyone’s a Winner @ North Lakes JANUARY 2009 COOLANGATTA TWEED HEADS
The first Sunday in January proved to be a great start to the QAGA Social Club calendar. Overcast but dry skies provided a welcome relief from the hot weather we had been experiencing. Scores recorded on the day reflected the ideal conditions for summer golf. It was most encouraging to have all (24) of our available time slots occupied by both new and old members and it is most pleasing to see our membership numbers continuing to grow. We know that everyone who participates in our days, although they may not play good golf on the day, still has a great day out. Next months’ event at Talley Valley will be sure to be another and the low price of $35 even includes a post game. B.B.Q.
Newcomers Wayne and Jane Patch dominated the day in the prize department. While Wayne with a score of 41points off a H/Cap of 16 (now reduced to 12) won the event, his wife Jane playing off 15 (now reduced to 12 also) not only came 2nd with 38 points, but also proceeded to collect Nearest the Pin prizes for 3 out of the 4 holes. This was reduced to 2 actual wins by a “dubious” better shot, of someone who shall remain nameless. That’ll teach you to try and take advantage of us “cripples” Jane! The Pen is always mightier than the 3 Iron. Geoff Thwaites, who was home from Indonesia for a while, came out to join us and won third place with 36 points on a count back from Graham Kenyon. Last but not least “Uglie’s” son Andrew won the N.A.G.A. award for the day with 8 points. Andrew it was terrific to see you there supporting your Dad on the day and we hope that you and family members of other amputees will continue supporting and enjoying our days.
