NEWSLETTER: Vol 4 Issue 3 October 2009
Editorial
Hi Everyone.! First of all the Board would like to thank those members who attended the Annual General Meeting held following our monthly event at Gainsborough Greens Golf Club on Sunday 4th October. Elections saw a return of the previous Board, together with the very welcome additions of Ray Piper and Ken Rowsell as Board Members. The Board hopes that the members are satisfied with the achievements for 2009 and with the added support from Ray and Ken, they are sure that the coming year will be as progressive as the last for the Q.A.G.A. . Interest in our monthly social golf events continues to grow and we have again added more players to our participants. As I continually say, come and join in too, “the more the merrier” and don’t forget to bring your family and friends with you. The next event is our QAGA Xmas break-up and will be held at Pacific Harbour Golf Club on Saturday the 5th of December, followed by North Lakes the next day on Sunday the 6th. If you can’t make both then take your pick of the two. Both are great golf courses and terrific prizes are on offer. You may or may not be aware that in March 2010 the Q.A.G.A. is hosting the 6th Queensland Amputee Golf Open, the event will be held in conjunction with 7th Australian Amputee Golf Open and it is hoped that players will choose to compete in both of these fine events. Details of the events are obtainable from the Q.A.G.A website and a link is provided on the home page, for connection to the dedicated Australian Amputee Open website for entry forms etc. I hope to see you all soon, Swing Sweet and Have a Great Life! OCTOBERS EVENT AT CARBROOK GOLF CLUB
Saw new amputee member Scott Smith, take out his first event with a fine score of 45 points, with Karen Guy and the ever improving “Ugly” Ken Rowsell tying for 2nd on 39 points. Close behind was Gary Atkinson with 38. Rod Burrows tipped out David Male and Warrick Self with 28 points for the NAGA award. The field was slightly down in numbers compared to normal, however it being Fathers’ Day contributed to this fact. A great day was had by all attending.
SUNDAY 4th SEPTEMBER AT GAINSBOROUGH GREENS G.C.
September 4th saw 18 players (plus Coxy) attend our monthly golf event held at Gainsborough Greens and again we saw our numbers increase as 2 new players joined our ranks. Welcome to Brad Fox, and fellow amputee James Neil! That man “Ugly” Ken Rowsell was again a winner with a great score of 43 points, however although his golf is improving by leaps and bounds (good on you Ken), it is not expected that his run of successes will continue, the handicapper is sick of being made to look like the fool that he is and has decided to take a firm hand with Ken by reducing Ugly’s handicap to 45. Having been as high as 72 in June of this year, you can easily see that his golf has improved dramatically and Ken is to be congratulated on his fine achievements and is proving to be a inspiration to others.
