Editorial Hi Everyone.! Your Board members have had an interesting month. Meetings and talks have been held with Queensland Amputee Limb Services, the Queensland Sporting Wheelies and the Amputees and Families Support Group Qld. All of these bodies are very keen to support the Q.A.G.A. in furthering our activities and aim, of assisting amputees to enhance their lives through the medium of golf. This is of course great news to present members of the Q.A.G.A. but is of even more importance to future amputees, who we will now be better able to assist. Because of our improved relationship with these other organisations, more amputees will receive information about the Q.A.G.A. and of course the Q.A.G.A. will in turn be better able to inform amputees of the assistance and activities available from QALS, the AAFSG and the “Wheelies”. A win - win situation for all concerned! Swing Sweet and Have a Great Life! GK
Q.A.G.A NEWS As a result of the desire to improve our cooperation and relations with other disabled groups and also because a goodly number of amputees will be travelling to Adelaide to compete in the Inaugural South Australian Amputee Open from Nov. 3rd-7th, a change has been made to our Social Golf Club event for November. Instead of holding our normal 1st Sunday of the month event, we have decided to lend our support to the Sporting Wheelies Assoc, by attending and competing in their Annual State Championship on Sunday October 19th at Indooroopily Golf Club in Brisbane. We apologise to our able bodied members, but obviously this is a disabled event & will only be open to our amputee members. If you are interested in participating in the event please contact me A.S.A.P. so that details and entry forms can be passed on to you. The Toowoomba Sub-Branch of the A.F.S.G. however, is holding their main fundraiser for the year and it just happens to be a golf day. The event in its 3rd year is open to all and is to be held on Saturday 27th September at the Borneo Barracks G.C. It is a 4 man Ambrose competition, which gives you a great opportunity to form a team and provide support to a worthy and allied amputee organisation. Again please contact me for details A.S.A.P. And if you need assistance forming a team, let us know. Last of all - the end of year is closing in fast, SO - remember to start saving your bickies for our Xmas event at Bribie Island. You don’t want to miss this event. Two terrific courses on two great days. You don’t have to compete on both days, but we’re hoping that you’ll make it a great Xmas weekend of golf. We intend to have some great prizes for both days!
